Industry leaders Dylan Tyson, Pat Sargent Join Elizabeth Dole Foundation Board of Directors
The Elizabeth Dole Foundation (EDF) announced the election of Dylan Tyson, president of retirement strategies at Prudential, and head of the company’s Global Retirement Center of Excellence, and Pat Sargent, senior vice president and general manager, Oracle Health Government Services, to its board of directors.
Dylan Tyson holds a Chartered Financial Analyst designation from the CFA Institute and has held numerous senior leadership roles across the globe in his more than 30-year career at Prudential.
Previously, as senior vice president of U.S. Pension Risk Transfer, Tyson helped pioneer the modern-day institutional pension risk transfer (PRT) market, leading the breakthrough General Motors PRT transaction in 2012. He went on to serve as chief strategy officer for Prudential Life Insurance of Korea, president and CEO of Prudential of Taiwan, and president of U.S. Individual Annuities, prior to his current role heading the company’s Retirement business. Tyson also represents Prudential on the boards of directors for the Insured RetirementInstitute and The Fiduciary Exchange.
As president of the Retirement Strategies business at Prudential, Tyson and his team provide more than $15 billion of protected income payments each year to over 2.6 million individual and institutional customers through its five lines of business: Individual Retirement Strategies, Institutional Stable Value, U.S. Pension Risk Transfer, International Reinsurance, and Structured Settlements.
Tyson’s work as head of Prudential’s Global Retirement Center of Excellence mobilizes the enterprise’s insurance and asset management capabilities around the world. It seeks to maximize Prudential’s impact in current markets and deliver retirement security in brand new ways, to help millions more people protect their life’s work.
“We are fortunate to have Dylan as a member of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation Board. He is a recognized leader in the financial wellness and insurance industry, championing the need to expand access to retirement security—a key concern for military and veteran caregivers, their veterans, and families as they plan for the future,” said Steve Schwab, CEO of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation. “With that focus on future planning being a key component of the Foundation’s new Strategic Plan, we look forward to leveraging his expertise to support our community. Dylan and the entire Prudential team have been incredible partners in our work, and we are deeply appreciative of their willingness to invest in our nation’s hidden heroes.”
Pat Sargent is a board-certified healthcare executive, U.S. Army Black Hawk medical evacuation pilot, and retired U.S. Army Major General who possesses a unique understanding of the military and veterans’ healthcare systems and the federal healthcare system, writ large.
Pat has commanded medical organizations in combat and peace ranging in complexity from: Company, Battalion, Brigade, ArmyMedical Center, and Regional Healthcare System/Defense Health Agency Market. He served as the COO of the Army’s Global Healthcare System and was the Commander/President of the Army’s Medical Department Center and School. In these capacities, he focused on ensuring the delivery of Joint Commissioned accredited evidence-based medical care, zero preventable patient harm, and a world-class experience for providers, patients, and caregivers.
As the Chief of Staff of the Army’s Warrior Transition Command, he gained an intimate understanding of EDF’s mission in the aftermath of the Walter Reed crisis, helping the Army develop the medical and administrative resources required to care for our nation’s wounded, ill and injured warriors, as well as their caregivers.
At Oracle Health, Pat leads its federal healthcare practice. In this capacity, he champions the interests of all federal clients using Oracle’s technology. He also works to influence the next generation of medical technology that enables Al-driven, evidenced-based medicine across the continuum of care—with the express purpose of improving the overall healthcare experience for providers, patients, and caregivers.
“Pat is a transformational leader who has spent more time in combat and hostile-fire areas than corporate America—he understands the plight of caregivers and cares deeply for military and veteran families. He has also been a long-time supporter of the Foundation and champion of our work,” said Steve Schwab, CEO of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation. “He will bring a wealth of experience that will deepen our ability to support caregivers, their warriors, veterans, and families across the country. We are proud to have him on our Board.”
Sargent and Tyson join the Foundation’s current board, chaired by Secretary Robert McDonald.
