Military Kids Virtual Talent Contest is Live!
The Elizabeth Dole Foundation Creates New Talent Opportunity for Military Kids
Talent show will spotlight America’s military kids and celebrate their unique talents
Washington, D.C. (May 20, 2020) – The Elizabeth Dole Foundation is launching a virtual “Military Kids Have Talent” contest today to spotlight the children and survivors of our nation’s military service members and veterans. Military kids play a critical role in their families and the Foundation wants to highlight these amazing young people during a time when many milestones and celebrations have been cancelled due to COVID-19. “Military Kids Have Talent” is designed to give children a stage for sharing their skills and talents, and give audiences nationwide a chance to celebrate them. “During COVID-19, many military and veteran families have faced even greater uncertainty and stress than in their regular day-to-day lives,” said Steve Schwab, CEO of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation. “Kids can definitely feel this, and we want to give them a chance to have fun and be recognized for who they are.” Contest entries will be accepted until June 12th, and following that deadline, the Foundation will host a virtual viewing party for the public to watch talent submissions and vote for their favorites. Who can participate?
- Talent contest participants must be the child, survivor, or dependent of a military service member or veteran and be 18 years old or younger. Groups are welcome to participate if each member of the group falls into the aforementioned categories.
- The general public is invited to participate during the watch party by viewing submissions and voting for their favorite talent.
How will “Military Caregiver Kids Have Talent” work?
- Contest participants will choose their talent, and with the help of their parents, film a video of their performance. Videos must be no longer than two minutes.
- Entries will be submitted at www.hiddenheroes.com/talent. This portal also includes release forms that participants will need to sign as well.
- After the June 12th deadline, all videos will be compiled into a longer form show that will be broadcast as a watch party for families and friends.
- During the watch party, family and friends will be able to cast vote(s) for their favorite talents.
- After the votes are tallied, the Foundation will host a broadcast to announce the top winners and award the prizes.
What is the deadline?
- Videos must be submitted by Friday, June 12th 2020 at 11:59pm EST.
