VA to Conduct Review of PCAFC

Statement from CEO Steve Schwab:

The Elizabeth Dole Foundation strongly supports Secretary McDonough’s decision to conduct a thorough review of the Program for Comprehensive Assistance for Family Caregivers (PCAFC). Since last fall, we have held several meetings with VA leadership to share our concerns about the rate at which legacy caregivers are being transitioned out of the program. Last week, we presented VA leaders robust survey results from the caregiver community offering clear evidence of the need for such a review. We look forward to working closely with VA on this assessment review and urge them to re-consider the process and implications on those who have already been notified of a transition. EDF is working on several fronts to address these issues fundamentally and holistically at their roots. As the Secretary stated, caregivers are valued customers of VA - like veterans - and they perform an essential duty for our nation. They are the backbone, and we agree, WE must get this right.
