RAISE Passes the Senate, A Landmark Victory for all Caregivers
The Elizabeth Dole Foundation applauds the Senate for yesterday’s passage of the RAISE Family Caregivers Act, which is now on the way to President Trump to be signed into law. This legislation is a tremendous step forward for our nation’s 40 million family caregivers, including the 5.5 million hidden heroes who are caring for our nation’s wounded, ill, or injured service members. The research is clear: veterans have the best chance to recover, improve, and thrive when they have a strong, well-supported caregiver. We look forward to supporting the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as it develops, maintains, and periodically updates a National Family Caregiving Strategy. By identifying evidence-based best practices and maximizing effectiveness in supporting family caregivers through education, training, financial and workplace support, we will improve outcomes for both America’s caregivers and their care recipients.
